NALSA “Azadi kaAmrit Mohotsav” at Jorethang

Namchi, 3rd October: Taluk Legal Services committee, Jorethang Sub-Division, South Sikkim in coordination
with the Sikkim State Legal Services Authority set up stalls at Jorethang Haat Bazar, South Sikkim
on 03.10.2021, as a part of Pan India Awareness and Outreach Campaign on the occasion of
NALSA “Azadi kaAmrit Mohotsav” at Jorethang Haat Bazar, South Sikkim, today.
The purpose of the programme was to assist the public seeking Free Legal Aid, filing up
forms for getting people connected with the various schemes of the State Government and Free
Legal Services, State and Welfare Schemes applicable to the senior citizens,women, disabled
provided by the Social Welfare Department.
The Ex-Officio Chairperson Taluk Legal Services committee Jorethang Sub-Division, Ms.
Rohini Rai, Ld. Panel Advocates, Mr. Vivek Chandra Rai and Mr. Nirmal Kumar
Berdewa, Para-Legal volunteer Ms. Sanu Rai, Social Welfare member Ms. Sikha Chettri (SWI) and
staff members of the DLSA and TLSC South Sikkim were present and assisted the public and
disseminated information relating to topics on General Legal Awareness and the welfare schemes of
the State Government.
The Legal Aid Clinic was manned by Para Legal Volunteer, Ms. Sanu Rai who distributed
pamphlets relating to topic on general Legal Awareness and information regarding Legal Aid
helpline and mechanism of Alternate Dispute Redressal Resolution.
There were around 27 people who interacted with the representatives of the Departments
present to address their problems and to procure appropriate advice and guidance and thus benefited
from the Legal Aid clinic. They were also informed of the facility of filing online application for
availing Legal Aid Services via the NALSA: Legal Services App.
The programme was successful in spreading awareness to common citizens about various
Legal Aid programmes, services and schemes.
