Namchi, 3rd October(IPR):A Pan India Awareness and Outreach programme on the occassion of NALSA ‘AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV’ was held at Namchi Haat Bazar, today. This outreach programme will continue till 14th November.
The programme was organized by District Legal Services Authority and Taluk Legal Services Committee, South Sikkim at Namchi under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority.
The programme was chaired by the Chairman, DLSA (South) Mr. Jiwan Kumar Kharka in presence of the Ex-Officio Chairperson, T.L.S.C. Namchi, Ms. Jwala D. Thapa, Learned Panel Advocate Mr. Bhim S. Pradhan and Ms. Sushila Thapa, S.H.O Namchi Ms. Dawa Lhamu Pakhrin, Para-Legal Volunteers and Staff members of the D.L.S.A and T.L.S.C South Sikkim at Namchi, officials from Social Welfare Department, Health Department and representative from Dristi NGO Namchi.
The main purpose of the programme was to spread awareness about various schemes under National Legal Services Authority i.e. free legal aid, mediation, Senior Citizens Act, 2007, maintenance, legal literacy mission, domestic violence etc. Additionally information from other departments were also disseminated pertaining to subjects such as child helpline number, preventive measures on Health issues like Mental Health, Covid -19 and Iodine Deficiency.
There were around 39 people who attended the stall. The attendees interacted with the representatives of the Departments to address their problems and to procure appropriate advice and guidance.
