Namchi,11th August : (IPR) A meeting of District Task Force (DTF) was held yesterday at DAC, South. The meeting reviewed COVID-19 vaccination status, COVID-19 positive status, preparedness and other issues.
The meeting was chaired by DC (South) Mr. M. Bharani Kumar along with ADC (Dev)Dr. C.P. Rai , CMO (South) Dr. D.C. Sharma, DRCHO (South)Dr. Junita Yonzon, DSO (South)Dr. Urgen Sherpa, ASP (South)Rinzing Chopel Rai and other officials
DRCHO (South) Dr. Junita Yonzon summarized the status of COVID 19 vaccination in detail under south district. Till date the coverage of first dose is 94% in the age group of 18-44 years category and second dose is 80% in the age group of 45 years and above. Special sessions for persons without valid ID is going on across south district and till date 3445 number of such beneficiaries have been vaccinated . For people who are disabled a COVID Vaccination Centres has been set up wherein they are being vaccinated. The Mobilisation of all unvaccinated beneficiaries to be done at all levels by the end of August 2021.
COVID ICU Namchi is functioning since first week of June 2021 and for which police personnel were sought for security duty from the police department. It is also decided out of three COVID Care Centre (CCC), two CCC will continue to function namely CCCT, Chisopani and Girls Hostel Namchi, under South District.
DSO (South) Dr. Urgen Sherpa briefed the members on the prevailing covid situation along with details of covid data. Further he informed about various directions received from Government of India regarding focus on rural areas, Genome sequencing and activities to be undertaken if mutations are detected. He highlighted the gradual reduction in positivity and suggested testing of groups like drivers etc to assess the level of infection in community since they ferry people from different areas.
Additionally, National Deworming Day (NDD) was also discussed where children aged 1-19 years are given albendazole tablets. This is being done biannually, the first round was held in Feb 2021, where 33041 number of children were given albendazole tablets. The second round will be held in the month of October 2021.
