The three-day long entrepreneurship festival in which three schools had participated finally concluded with a positive note in the premises of New Secondary School in the presence of District Collector (South), Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Namchi) and other dignitaries from various departments and organisations. The event was initiated by District Administrative Centre, South and Nehru Yuva Kendra Namchi. The main motive of the programme was to inculcate the entrepreneurial spirit and to make them self-reliant.
Every school formed a team of 10 students with each student contributing Rs. 500 from their own pocket with every team having initial capital of Rs.5000. The menu was decided before the event by chit system and each school had a different menu so that the customers can have option in all the stalls.
The event was largely supported by District Collector (South), Superintendent of Police and Sub Divisional Magistrate (Namchi) as they visited the stalls on a daily basis and interacted with the students. The students showed great enthusiasm and depicted that they are determined to own a business rather than searching for a government job. The students benefited a lot from this event and gained a lot of experience about handling money, maintaining business accounts, running a business and most of all interacting with the people.
The event was a competition between the three schools where the winner would be decided from the amount of profit they would earn in the span of three days from their invested amount of Rs. 5000.
Ultimately, New Secondary School stood tall and was the school to earn the highest amount of profit of Rs. 13527 followed by Namchi Girls Senior Secondary School with a profit of Rs. 10,142 and Namchi Senior Secondary School earned a total profit of Rs. 5772.
The event concluded with positive words from District Collector and Sub Divisional Magistrate and encouraged the students to take the experience further and apply it practically in life. The event was a success and now it will be taken on a larger scale with different colleges and organisations participating.
